JAKARTA — PT PLN (Persero) is taking a revolutionary step in supporting the green energy transition in Indonesia by designing the development of Solar Power Plant (PLTS) infrastructure along the toll road corridor owned by PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk.
According to PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo, the 802-kilometer toll road has the potential to cover approximately 400 to 500 hectares of land on both sides. The potential power capacity is projected to reach 0.5 Gigawatt peak (GWp).
To address the challenge of solar energy intermittency, this innovative project will also be integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This strategic step not only aims to accelerate the achievement of the national Net Zero Emission (NZE) target but also serves to boost the reliability of the electricity system while reducing the cost of electricity supply in Indonesia.
