THE INDUSTRIAL SECTOR IS INCREASINGLY ADOPTING GREEN ENERGY, MODENA ENERGY INAUGURATES A 307.5 KWp ROOFTOP PLTS IN CIKAMPEK

JAKARTA — The commitment of private industry players in Indonesia to supporting the clean energy transition continues to show a positive trend. This concrete step is demonstrated by MODENA Energy—the renewable energy business line of the multinational company MODENA—which officially inaugurated a Rooftop Solar Power Plant (PLTS) installation in the industrial area owned by PT Multi Nitrotama Kimia (MNK), a subsidiary of PT Ancora Indonesia Resources Tbk (OKAS), located in Cikampek, West Java.

This 307.5 kWp Rooftop Solar Power Plant installation is designed to support factory operations and is a significant milestone in the implementation of sustainable business practices in the domestic manufacturing and chemical sectors.

Energy Production Projections and Emission Reduction Contribution

Based on technical data, the Cikampek Rooftop Solar Power Plant project is projected to produce around 400,000 kWh of clean electricity annually.

The presence of this renewable energy has a significant ecological impact, directly contributing to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of up to 360,000 kg of CO₂ per year. This figure is equivalent to planting thousands of trees to reduce the carbon footprint of conventional industrial activities.

Head of MODENA Energy, Agiya Fersya, stated that this collaboration demonstrates the private sector's concrete support for accelerating the clean energy transition target set by the Indonesian government.

"Collaborating with PT Multi Nitrotama Kimia is a strategic step in supporting the use of solar energy in the industrial sector and accelerating the clean energy transition in Indonesia," said Agiya.

"More and more industrial players are turning to solar power plants (PLTS) because they not only strengthen their commitment to sustainability but also provide long-term operational cost efficiencies and support a more stable energy supply," she added.

Employing an Efficient and Reliable On-Grid Scheme

In its operation, the rooftop solar power system installed at the PT Multi Nitrotama Kimia facility uses an on-grid scheme, meaning it is directly integrated with the PT PLN (Persero) electricity distribution network.

Through this intelligent scheme, the factory's main electricity supply needs during the day can be optimally supplied directly from solar energy. Meanwhile, the PLN electricity grid remains ready to supply demand under certain conditions, ensuring the reliability of factory operations continues uninterrupted.

For large-scale industrial sectors, utilizing on-grid schemes has proven to be the most effective solution for reducing electricity cost increases while optimizing long-term budget efficiency.

Entry Point for Renewable Energy Expansion in Ancora Group's Business Lines

Meanwhile, a management representative from Ancora Group stated that the installation of rooftop solar power plants at PT Multi Nitrotama Kimia is only the first step. The company is committed to continuing to expand the use of environmentally friendly renewable energy to various business lines and other subsidiaries in the future.

This massive move by the private sector demonstrates that the adoption of solar energy in Indonesia is no longer solely driven by government regulations, but has transformed into a strategic corporate necessity to create economic efficiency while meeting the demands of an increasingly environmentally friendly global market.
